My 'Girl Boss' Review

Recently in an effort to stay focused on my business, I decided to pick up a book called #GIRLBOSS. Written by Sophia Amoruso, the Founder and Executive Chairman of Nasty Gal. I read this book in 5 days. I absolutely adore this book! Its well written, easy to understand, and extremely honest. This book should be every young entrepreneur’s go-to inspiration. It lets you know that you don’t have to do everything by the book, You don’t have to be perfect, you can make a few mistakes on the way and come out on top. I think the reason why Sophia is so easy to relate to is because she’s been through so much, anyone can put themselves in her shoes even if it’s just a similar thought she’s had. The book is very much like having a one on one conversation with her. Even though this book is directed in the fashion industry you can without question apply her advice to almost any industry. The cool part is, there are also all kinds of mini-stories throughout the book from other #GIRLBOSS girls. So, not only do you get Sophia’s story but you get other women whose stories all support everything she says. Which I think makes her words and advice that much more credible. What I love most about the book is it’s raw feel. She sugar coats nothing, which I feel like is very important when you’re trying to apply the book to your own life. She goes over everything from the very early stages of Nasty Gal Vintage, hiring ( and firing ) her first employee, to why she decided to no longer be the CEO of her 250 million dollar company. I think that if you’re a woman starting a business, already have a business, or working your way up in a business then this book needs to be up next on your reading list.

You’ll thank me later.
